About Us

Kennedy Learning Center provides quality educational experiences for special needs students in an environment conducive to learning. Our program hinges upon dynamic collaboration between key constituents such as caregivers, parents, students, teachers and social workers. Each student has an individualized program that is comprehensive and functional while addressing their future needs in the home, school and community.

KLC ~ Severely Cognitively Impaired (SCI)
In our severely cognitively impaired program, students learn the fundamentals of independent living. A full kitchen allows them to learn how to function independently with appliances, and a washer and dryer is provided to learn clothes washing and folding. Adaptive music and art projects round out the day and are held by our teachers who work with our students for potential eligibility in our next step program.

Next Step Program
In our Next Step program, students advance through a series of tiers with the objective of reaching independence. Our first tier is Tier 3, where students learn fundamental skills that will assist them in being successful in the workforce and with social interaction. They then advance to Tier 2, where they acquire more advanced skills specific to occupational partnership we have with the community.

What We Offer

Unified Basketball

Kennedy Learning Center proudly offers Unified Basketball, a program that brings students of all abilities together to promote teamwork, inclusion, and school spirit. By pairing athletes with and without disabilities, the program fosters connections, respect, and shared joy through sports. Unified Basketball emphasizes cooperation, empathy, and perseverance, allowing participants to build skills and confidence in a supportive environment. It’s more than just a game—it’s a celebration of diversity and a powerful way to unite our school community.

Project Manhood & Womanhood

Kennedy Learning Center offers Project Manhood and Project Womanhood, mentorship programs that empower students as they navigate adolescence. These programs provide guidance, life skills, and support to help students build confidence, form positive relationships, and set goals. Through discussions, activities, and mentorship from community leaders, students explore self-identity, leadership, and personal growth in a supportive environment that fosters character development and a sense of belonging.

Clubs

At Kennedy Learning Center, our clubs offer students opportunities to explore interests, build skills, and connect with peers. Whether focused on arts, technology, leadership, or service, each club is tailored to support our diverse learners. These activities provide a welcoming space for students to express themselves, develop new talents, and engage in school life beyond the classroom, fostering a strong sense of community and belonging.
